Nobody Injured, Armenian Brandy Survives Tunnel Fire.31 May 2013
YEREVAN, APRIL 13, ARMENPRESS. Not a single gram of Armenian brandy was burned, when the truck transporting 30 tons of Armenian brandy from the Republic of Armenia was on fire in "Ruis" tunnel of the central freeway Tbilisi-Senaki-Leselidze in Georgia. The Chairman of the Union of Wine-Makers of Armenia Avag Harutyunyan stated this in a conversation with "Armenpress". Among other things Avag Harutyunyan noted: "Not a single bottle of brandy was burnt. The trailer of the truck was on fire, which was transporting some other goods." In addition Harutyunyan emphasized that the brandy manufacturer did not whish to make his name public.
The truck was not Armenian. The driver was Malkhaz Rukhadze from Georgia. The truck transporting 30 tons of Armenian brandy from the Republic of Armenia is on fire in "Ruis" tunnel of the central freeway Tbilisi-Senaki-Leselidze in Georgia. Nobody was injured in the fire. The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia got in touch with the Department of Emergency Situation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. The Department stated that in accordance with the preliminary information the fire was isolated. The driver's cabin was on fire. The firemen-rescuers are working on the spot. Because of the accident the traffic of the central freeway was stopped for several hours. The brandy was to be taken to Poti and from there to Russia. The Police and the Fire Service arrived at the spot. In accordance with the preliminary information, the fire was caused as a result of vehicle's disrepair.
